By now, many of you know and have prayed for our AM station in Legazpi City. As you recall, 1125 DWAS has been off air for about three years now because of technical problems. In fact, many of you have been burdened to pray for our broadcast to resume at the soonest possible time. On behalf of the management and staff of Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) Philippines, I would like to thank you for your prayers and concern.
In His great wisdom, God saw it fit to prepare the hearts of the people in the Bicol region through our blocktime programs aired over DZGB-AM 729 kHz in Legazpi City and ONE Radio-FM 91.3 MHz in Tabaco City!
In response our blocktime programs, JP, a young man from Ligao, Albay, sent us this text message:
“Praise God! Your programs ‘Papuri! Radio’ and Negosyo Asin Trabaho are heard loud and clear here in Ligao! Please greet us here!”
Another listener, Estrella, landed a job in Qatar after tuning in to “Negosyo Asin Trabaho.” Here’s what she has to say:
“Good afternoon. I’m Estrella from Tabaco City. Because of your program, I found a job. Thank you so much! I am waiting for my flight now going to Qatar. Please pray for me that I would have a good and God-fearing employer. Thanks again, so much!”
These are just stories of hearts being touched and lives being enriched as they tune in to our blocktime programs. We praise God that by His grace, we were able to meet our aim to reach more non-Christian listeners and to regain our loyal listeners. To date, 95% of our listeners are non-Christians, and according to them, they enjoy our programs.
Last quarter, the management of ONE Radio shared with us the result of their in-house survey, stating that “Negosyo Asin Trabaho” ranked 3rd among the most listened-to programs in Tabaco City! And we indeed praise God for that report!
In as much as all these praise reports are encouraging to us, there is nothing that would thrill us the most than to hear our FEBC station in the Bicol region, once again beam the message of hope and healing in that needy place.
After much prayer, we are pleased to announce our target to get back on air in the next six months, as the good Lord wills. In fact, it is our utmost desire to celebrate the station’s 38th anniversary come December of this year by going back on air!
With a 5-kilowatt FM transmitter, we desire to position our FEBC station as a community radio. We are partnering with key institutions and establishments in the communities in Legazpi City and nearby municipalities to meet our goal and mandate here in the Bicol region as “The Station That Cares.”
With that, I would like to ask you to continue to be our partner in praying for the following concerns as we go back on air. First, that God would provide the best place and location for the broadcast studio and transmitter, where we would be more accessible to our audience and partner agencies.
Second, for our staffing needs, that God would send the right workers whom He has prepared to help rebuild the Bicol station.
Third, for a renewed commitment and passion by the churches and individuals to help bring Christ to the Bicolanos via radio.
“Thank you so much! I hope that you will continue airing your program, because you are a great help in our lives and you continue to give us hope.”
This text message from Gilbert, a young professional, reminded me why FEBC has existed these past 63 years, and why we desire our Bicol station to be back on air by December.
We believe that the hearts of our Bicolano kababayans are ripe and ready for harvest! And we at FEBC in the Bicol region are excited to harvest the ripe and ready hearts of the Bicolanos!
The Lord Jesus Christ Himself tells us in John 4:35 “I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” Let us therefore go and celebrate the harvest in Bicol!
