Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair, is now open to the public to allow visitors the opportunity to meet crew members and purchase books.
MV Logos Hope will be open to the public at Pier 15 Manila South Harbor, from February 16 to March 13. Entrance pass is P20; children under 12 enter for free, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The ship is open from 10am – 9:30 pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and from 1pm – 9:30 pm on Sundays. The ship is closed on Monday.
Logos Hope offers an expanded selection of over 5,000 titles at affordable prices. They cover a range of subjects including science, sports, hobbies and family life. With children’s titles, academic texts, dictionaries, atlases and more, the book fair is something the whole family can enjoy. The rest of the Visitor Experience deck is also open to the public. From the Welcome Area, which introduces the new vessel through a short movie and interactive displays, to the International Café, which offers snacks for sale, there is sure to be something for everyone.
The ship’s 400 crew members are volunteers who have come from over 45 countries. Some come with qualifications to fill specific roles such as engineering officers, plumbers, carpenters, bookkeepers, cooks and other professionals; many young people come with no qualifications except a willingness to serve. Although they have different backgrounds, the crew members agree on a common goal: helping people through social service projects and good literature. During Logos Hope’s recent visit to India and Sri Lanka, crew members undertook many practical aid projects, including construction of schools, substantial book donations and a free medical and dental clinic. The crew offers a unique example of unity in cultural diversity as believers in the Christian faith.
Logos Hope is operated by GBA Ships e.V., an international charitable organization registered in Germany. In almost 40 years of service, the organization has welcomed 40 million visitors in over 160 countries and territories around the world. I joined the Doulos in the year 1991 only for three months as a step program traveled to Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. It was a great and unforgettable experience being in the ship of more than 30 nationalities during that time. Your life will be very holy because you are in the community of Christians bringing knowledge help and hope to the lost soul. Now the “doulos” has had retired and logos hope has come a new ship which is now in Manila and I saw how God moved to the hearts of the people who joined and to those who visited the ship. My plan is to join again probably in the year 2017 when my daughter come the age of 18 we will be together in the ship.because i’m a single dad (widowed) i want to serve the Lord again through “Logos hope” . Gos is good, i have had a chance to attend the opening of the maiden voyage of Logos hope in Manila today Feb. 17, 2012. Mabuhay ANG LOGOS HOPE PEOPLE. TO GOD BE THE GLORY,
