One of free-to-air radio’s greatest strengths is its ability to reach listeners beyond borders. But for FEBC, being “Close to Listeners” means going beyond the studio to share the gospel and Christ’s love in tangible ways.

Embracing the theme “Until All Have Heard” (Hangtud Nga ang Tanan Nakadungog), based on Romans 10:14-15, 1197 DXFE “The Good News Radio”, has remained faithful to this mission for 53 years. Under the leadership of Station Manager Magnolia Yrasuegui, DXFE actively engages in outreach programs, training sessions, and community-building efforts. From partnering with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the 27th Infantry “Action” Battalion, 10ID, PA, to leading #BecauseICare initiatives and hosting Open House events, the station continues to be a steadfast presence in Davao City.

A newly established Community Center further strengthens this commitment—serving as a hub for connection and service. More than just an anniversary celebration, these efforts reflect the heart of our mission: Communicating Christ in Our World, Until All Have Heard.

#BecauseICare in Malabog, Paquibato

On February 8, DXFE’s 53rd anniversary coincided with the 55th anniversary of the 27th Infantry “Action” Battalion, 10ID, PA, bringing both groups together for a meaningful community outreach in Brgy. Malabog, Paquibato District.

The City Health Office provided essential medical services, while the City Social Welfare and Development Office distributed food packs to approximately 250 families. In addition to these physical provisions, Bibles were shared to offer spiritual nourishment.

Adding to the celebration, Clown Noel delighted 200 children with laughter, Gospel messages, and gift bags filled with toys, fruits, and treats, making the event a truly joyful and impactful occasion.

Stewardship Through Tree Planting

In celebration of World Radio Day on February 13, DXFE joined the 27th Infantry Battalion in a tree-planting activity—embracing this year’s theme, “Radio and Climate Change.” But for DXFE, this initiative carried an even deeper meaning: our God-given responsibility to care for His magnificent creation.

As Genesis 1:28 declares:
“God blessed them and said, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and every living creature that moves on the ground.’”

Through the #BecauseICare initiative, DXFE remains committed to environmental stewardship and disaster response, working closely with government agencies. Station Manager Magnolia Yrasuegui also leads FEBC’s First Response Radio, providing emergency broadcasts and aid in times of crisis.

More than just a broadcast station, DXFE is a beacon of hope and action—serving communities in both word and deed.

Stakeholders Recognition of 27th Infantry “Action” Battalion

On February 12, 1197 DXFE’s Station Manager Magnolia Yrasuegui and “Balik Kita sa Uma” host Janoz Laquihon were honored at the 27th Infantry Battalion’s 55th anniversary for their contributions to community service. This recognition highlights the station’s long-standing partnership with the 27th IB in serving those in need.

“Balik Kita sa Uma” airs every Saturday from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. The program empowers people to cultivate their lands effectively for better livelihoods.

#BecauseICare: Action!

On February 13, DXFE took #BecauseICare one step further—this time, by serving our soldiers. While these men and women dedicate their lives to protecting the country and assisting civilians during calamities, they rarely receive care themselves.

Through DXFE’s initiative, members of the 27th Infantry “Action” Battalion, 10ID, PA experienced a day of relaxation and appreciation. Soldiers were treated to massages, manicures, pedicures, and dental services—for many, a first-time experience.

MSGT Bobby Buenavista shared, “In all my years of service, we’ve always helped others, but this is the first time we’ve received this kind of care. It means so much.” LTC Franklin Garcia added, “The joy on the soldiers’ faces was priceless. It was like an R&R for the heart.”

Equipping the Youth: You Are Worth Waiting For

DXFE is committed to shaping the next generation through values-based, biblical education. As part of the True Love Waits series, Station Manager Magnolia Yrasuegui led “You Are Worth Waiting For” talks in two locations, emphasizing sexual purity, self-respect, and God’s design for relationships.

On February 13, over 100 students at UM Manuel Guianga attended a powerful session on sexual abstinence and self-worth, grounded in 1 Corinthians 6:20: “For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

On February 16, nearly 100 teens at Toril Baptist Church participated in an interactive discussion on purity, decision-making, and God’s plan for their lives. The session provided a safe space for open conversations, where many shared personal struggles and experienced deep emotional breakthroughs.

Yrasuegui reminded them: “Don’t go beyond your freedom, because your freedom has boundaries.” With engaging activities and heartfelt discussions, participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and self-worth—encouraged to make choices that honor God and their future.

DXFE’s 53rd Anniversary Celebration

DXFE’s 53rd anniversary week culminated in a day of thanksgiving and community outreach on February 14.

The celebration began with an Anniversary Prayer Gathering at the DXFE Community Center, where staff, listeners, and partners came together in gratitude and prayer. An Open House followed, providing supporters with the opportunity to connect with the station’s mission and impact.

In the afternoon, the Blessing Rahab Capacity Building session empowered 50 women with practical skills in making herbal oils and rubs for alternative livelihoods. Led by Juanita Momo Jr., RCh, the session equipped participants with valuable knowledge to help support their families.

A key initiative of DXFE, Blessing Rahab serves survivors of sex trafficking and women still involved in prostitution. Through livelihood training, holistic care, and the love of Christ, the program helps them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

A Mission That Continues

For 53 years, 1197 DXFE Davao has been reaching marginalized communities—including IP groups, women, farmers, and OFWs—through biblical teachings, music, and public service programs.
