“Be a blessing in the workplace today!” This familiar tagline has resonated with countless listeners of 702 DZAS and FEBC stations since 1993. Known as ‘ProTips,’ this bite-sized radio feature hosted by Ms. Maloi Malibiran-Salumbides has been encouraging people to infuse biblical values into their professional and personal lives. On August 24, 2024, ‘ProTips’ extended its impact beyond the broadcast through the first-ever FEBC LifeConnect workshop.
Gathering over 260 attendees at Christ’s Commission Fellowship in Imus, Cavite, this workshop was a lively and spiritually enriching event. Participants came from diverse backgrounds—professionals, youth, church leaders, and longtime FEBC supporters—each eager to learn how to honor God in the workplace. The event drew inspiration from the legacy of the FEBC Friends’ Fellowship, a gathering among FEBC staff, listeners, and supporters across various locations across Mega Manila and other regions.
“From kabataan ko pa po, nakikinig na po talaga ako sa ‘ProTips,’” shared Sarah Francesca, one of the participants. “Dahil po dun ay na-motivate ako nung mga darkest moments ko. Siya ‘yung online mentor ko po. As a Grab cyclist, iba’t ibang tao po ang nakakasalamuha ko, kailangan maging pasensyoso tayo. Every day is a blessing.”
(“I’ve been listening to ‘ProTips’ since I was a kid, and it has motivated me through some of my darkest moments. Ms. Maloi has become like an online mentor to me. As a Grab cyclist, I meet all kinds of people, and patience is essential. Every day is a blessing.”)
The session was filled with encouragement as Ms. Salumbides shared stories from the Bible about figures like David and Joseph to demonstrate how small beginnings can lead to great things. She inspired everyone with Jesus’ Words in John 10:27-28, “My sheep listen to my voice… no one will snatch them out of my hand,” reminding them that following Him gives purpose to their work and assurance of His care. She also highlighted John 10:10b, where Jesus says He came so that we may “have life, and have it to the full,” and encouraged them to live out this fullness by doing “whatever you do for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Indeed, our work is part of God’s bigger plan, as seen in Genesis 2:15, where God placed man in the Garden of Eden “to work it and take care of it”—a reminder that even our daily tasks are part of His divine purpose. Sarah Jane, a participant and CEO, reflected on this purpose, saying, “Napakalaking tulong. Isang bagay na natutuwa ako kasi ‘yung mga nakikita ko every day, tips talaga on how to focus sa mga subordinates mo, sa mga taong nasa paligid mo. Lagi ka talagang positive and sa isa lang nakatingin—kay God lang.”
(“It’s been a great help. One thing I’m thankful for is the tips I get on how to focus on the people around you, especially your subordinates. That you always stay positive and focus on God alone.”)
The event not only provided valuable learning but also offered attendees the chance to connect with fellow attendees who shared their faith-driven passion for the workplace. Icebreakers, group activities, small discussions, and a panel moderated by FEBC representatives encouraged networking and collaboration. The panel included Ms. Salumbides, Atty. Winnie Salumbides, and FEBC Philippines CEO Luis Miguel Castillo, who shared personal insights and answered questions from the audience.
One attendee, Kaye, a CPA, shared her thoughts on the workshop: “’Yung tips kasi ni Miss Maloi, inspired siya by the Word of God. So, hindi lang siya about work pero meron siyang Word ni Lord.”
(“The tips Ms. Maloi shared were inspired by the Word of God. So, they’re not just about work, but they also include God’s Word.”)
For decades, FEBC’s programs, such as ‘Negosyo Asin Trabaho’ on DWAY-FM Legazpi and ‘Entre Pinoy Espesyal’ on 702 DZAS, have consistently supported professionals and addressed the spiritual needs of wage earners. The LifeConnect Workshop proved to be another powerful chapter in this mission to further our impact on the marketplace with practical, Christ-centered guidance.
